모든 것이 미정이야.

A: What’s the status of the new project? 새 프로젝트는 어떤 상태야?

B: Everything’s up in the air. 모든 것이 미정이야.

A: Since the new manager took over, everything has been delayed. 새 부장님이 오신 후로 모든 일이 미뤄지고 있어.

B: Well, let’s give him time to adjust. 그분도 적응하실 시간이 필요하잖아.

일이 결정되지 않고 어수선하면 ‘허공에 붕 떠있는 기분’을 느끼게 된다. 영어에서도 마찬가지로 ‘up in the air’라고 하면 ‘미결 상태인(undecided), 불확실한(uncertain)’이라는 뜻이 된다.
